Puffer Fish

The puffer fish is a marine aquarium fish. There are several classes of fish. The fish with spines are known as porcupine fish, there is also the dog faced puffer, the starts and stripes puffer and many more.

Puffers are poisonous so not recommended for the novice fish keeper. The poison can cause paralysis or even death if ingested (This is the fish Homer Simpson eats and then thinks he will die).

They also have little teeth which can cause problems in a tank environment where they are not needed as they are in the wild and can grow too big.

They can be kept with other fish but not with another puffers. They attack each other and with their teeth this can be quite nasty.

These fish are expensive and can be quite difficult to look after. You will only find them in the most specialist fish stores.

They are also carnivorous and will eat crabs and steal food from smaller fish.

This fish has a real personality and is very fun to keep and watch.
