Moor Fish

The Moor fish is actually an aquarium bred twin-tailed goldfish. The coloration is always black, hence it's alternative name Black Moor. It has an egg shaped body and protruding eyes.

It is bright, large, and is great at catching attention. Due to its relative hardiness and ease of care, it is excellent for beginning aquarists, but all fish lovers desire it.

It usually mixes very well with other goldfish. If kept in groups of goldfish and if kept in a group with other fish it will school them.

The size of this fish can vary considerably and can reach up to 20 cm in length.

It swims at all levels in the tank and is an active fish. It is also peaceful and wont bully other fish. They should be kept with live plants for food, but may also be fed vegetables like zucchini, peas, spinach and lettuce.

When spawning, the male Black Moor will develop small white dots call tubercles. These will grow on the head, pectoral fins and gill covers. Several thousand eggs will be produced during a spawn. The parents must be removed, as they will greedily eat their eggs.
